Sea Breeze exercise kicks off with damage control training in Ukraine

ODESSA, Ukraine - Crew members of the US Navy Destroyer, USS McFaul (DDG 74) welcomed aboard several partner nation navies to kick off Sea Breeze 2008 exercise here July 15.

Sea Breeze, in its 11th year, is a joint and combined maritime exercise with the goals of enhancing multinational interoperability, developing Black Sea-nation maritime security capabilities, and improving involvement in the larger Black Sea Theater Security Cooperation strategy.


Moldovan-Ukrainian peacekeepers exercise “South 2008” (“Pivdeni 2008”)

In accordance with the bilateral cooperation plan between the Ministries of Defense of Moldova and Ukraine for this year the Moldovan-Ukrainian peacekeepers exercise “South 2008” (“Pivdeni 2008”) was held on 7-12 July at the Training Area of the Mechanized Brigade No. 28, Cernomorskoie, Odessa region, Ukraine.

The Ukrainian and Moldovan army will lead the organization and deployment of joint humanitarian operations in ethnic conflict area within this military exercise.
According to Col Igor Gorgan, Head J7, Training Directorate, Main Staff, Moldova the Moldovan contingent consists of 31 military men of the Balti Brigade “Moldova” – motorized infantry platoon (25 persons) and one group of trainers.
Ukraine delegated the same number of representatives.
