Immediate Response 2009

The United States and Georgia began a two-week bilateral military exercise called Immediate Response on October 24 2009 as part of ongoing assistance to train Georgian troops deploying to Afghanistan in support of NATO's International Security Assistance Force mission. The program is specifically designed to enhance Georgia's ability to conduct joint counterinsurgency operations in Afghanistan together with U.S. forces.


U.S. CENTCOM Commander General Petraeus visists Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic and Uzbekistan


On the week of August 12 – 18 , 2009, General David Petraeus, Commander of the United States Central Command, visited Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic and Uzbekistan. During his visit, General Petraeus met with government officials and military officers to discuss ways in which the nations can cooperate more closely in the area of security, including in supporting Afghan reconstruction and stability; visited men and women at the Transit Center at Manas, Kyrgyzstan.
