Cornerstones of foundation for PfP Training Center
The «Partnership for Peace» Training Center was founded in accordance with the new Military Doctrine of Kazakhstan, adopted in 2007, and Individual Partnership Actions Plan between Republic of Kazakhstan and NATO.
The Military Doctrine defines the following tasks for security during peacetime such as «...implementation of international obligations on sustaining a global security, including participation in peacekeeping operations...».
One of the priorities of Individual Partnership Actions Plan between Republic of Kazakhstan and NATO is foundation of regional training center in the framework of «Partnership for Peace» program.
In order to implement Military Doctrine provisions, goals of IPAP and international obligations of Kazakhstan, in accordance with the orders of Ministry of Defense on 1st July 2008 «Partnership for Peace» Training Center was founded on the base of Defense Institute.
PfP Training Center Goals
- Contribution into regional security in the framework of "Partnership for Peace" program.
- Language and professional training on the most relevant subjects of the military and civilian personnel of Armed Forces, other government agencies, including Central-Asian countries, international organizations in order to achieve interoperability with NATO forces and meet international educational standards.
- Active participation in training events in the framework of «Partnership for Peace» Program.
- Cooperation enlargement with PfP Educational and Training Centers of NATO member states.
PfP Training Center's missions
PfP Training Center primarily is national educational institution of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan and responsible for training of Kazakh military and civilian personnel in accordance with international standards.
It is open to train personnel from Alliance and Partner states, with priority on Central-Asian countries and is aimed to develop international military cooperation, to eventually become a member of NATO-recognized PfP Training Centers community.
It is also an important part of international military cooperation system of the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan.
Main efforts of the PfP Training Center are tailored to develop peacekeeping operation's capability and interoperability of troops of Kazakh Armed Forces.

- Integration of PfP Training Center into the international PTC Community
- Host and conduct courses, seminars for NATO members and Partner States
Current status
Partnership for Peace Training Center's Concept is in MoD's approval process. In cooperation with the NATO during the period of 2006-2008 more than 10 seminars and courses were conducted. Structure and manpower of the "Partnership for Peace" Training Center have been defined. In December 2009 the course was evaluated by NATO experts. The methodical skills of the kazakhstani instructors were given a favorable reception by the NATO experts.
The first trial course "Military English Terminology in multinational operations" conducted in August, 2009 as a part of preparation process for the "Steppe Eagle" exercise. Institute's cadets and PfP TC instructors participate in "Steppe Eagle" exercise on annual basis as experts and interpreters.
Majority of PfP Training Center's instructors have an experience in peacekeeping operations in Iraq.

PfP Training Center has managed to actively use projects such as «Virtual Silk Way», «Consortium of universities», PIMS.

In order to maintain PfP TC activities Ministry of Defense has provided main facilities for studying, technical-material base and social events. For the present day main facilities of PfP TC are ready to host the courses for Kazakh military personnel
In 2010, the Center is planned to receive the status of Regional Partnership for Peace Training Center.
